About the Zimbabwean Optometric Association

The Zimbabwean Optometric Association supports Optometrists as primary health care professionals by providing regulations to deliver best possible eye care to their patient.


  • To increase awareness through eye health education, advocacy, vision and eye health screening.
  • To ensure Optometrists offer quality range of services, therapeutic drugs, amblyopic and strabismus vision therapy.
  • To promote rehabilitation of visually impaired patients to maximize visual potential.
  • To have a society where the law makers in public understand the unique role optometrists play in providing the nations eye care
  • Membership of the association to be recognised as the guarantee of the best clinical and ethical standards from practitioners who put the welfare of the patients first
  • To provide support to Optometrists as key providers of Primary eye care.
  • To have a profession that provides comprehensive eye care that enables the visually impaired to achieve their full potential.
